breathe wait listen

Breathe, wait, listen.  Handcut paper. 2011.

One of two works finished for the very exciting Exchange exhibition, that will be at Gatakers Artspace in QLD later this year.  I am so excited to be part of this exhibition, which celebrates an online community of professional artists that I am a part of with a really unique concept;  each artist provides 2 works – one to sell – one to swap with another artist in the show.

Here’s the other.

The Crossing, Handcut paper.  2011

There have been all sorts of crossings lately.  Finalisation of my divorce.  Settlement on the old house and a whole lot of boxes that have been moved and need to be sorted through.  So. Much. Stuff.  All good, but bringing their own baggage as things do.

I’m sifting through many things, and thinking, as we all do when it’s time to move forward – why do I have so much baggage?  Letting it go should be simple.  And it is.  It’s just a matter of shaking it off, and asking oneself constantly.  Is it important to anyone other that you?  NO?  Then ditch it.

Wish me luck.

  1. love those works! what a great concept for an exhibition. and stuff …. yes, i feel overwhelmed by it, but find it hard to purge. maybe one day i will lose weight and revive the 90’s / make covered coathangers / repurpose those old clothes / take up needle felting…. but them maybe not. i have been known to slip toys that annoy me into the bin or op-shop bag, but not enough …
